Just Like My Man Huey Lewis, I Do it All for My Babies
Had a great weekend overall. Even though Luci was (eta: IS) a sick little girl, she was sweet as pie. She’s the sweetest baby and laughed all the way through her sickness (with the crying mixed in, of course). I think it’s almost gone-although, she woke up with a hideous-sounding cough today. The Luce and I had a great Friday cuddlin’- apparently, when she’s sick, she’s only happy when being cuddled. We also spent Friday night spoonin’ on the couch which suited me just fine. She’s soooo darn sweeeeeet!
Even got a 9 mi run in, although, it was shitty shitty shitty. Just had no energy- was not hydrated and didn’t sleep well the night before due to Luci. O well, at least I got out there and did it.
Today has been uber-productive. We’ve gotten into this thing that once sounded INSANELY crazy to me but now makes all the sense in the world! Making our own baby food! I remember my sister doing this for Theo and I was completely in awe of her super-mom goodness. I just could not fathom having the time/patience/know-how to pull it off. Turns out, it’s incredibly easy; extremely good for your baby AND good for the environment (nothing drives me crazier than having to recycle all those damn plastic containers!!!! Packaging drives me NUTS- numerous more posts to come on that subject, no doubt- nothing pisses me off more than packaging lately). Anywho- I buy orgainic fruits and veggies and go to town with the steamer and food processor.
Today, I’ve made: Blueberries (yummy and beautifully colored after being pureed- but they stain!), apples, pears, mango, bananas, and butternut squash. My ultimate favorite is the mango- so incredibly good (of course, I always have to try them all!).
I also made some delicious cupcakes, a la Saint Cupcake (secret recipe) -vanilla with cream cheese icing (added a bit of dark chocolate for fun), for my other baby, during my down-time.
Ok, for me too.
Yummers….. ‘cept for now I have a bit of a tummy ache from trying all the purees.
